Aku pernah denger bahwa Windows7 udah punya segudang lagi driver-driver untuk perangkat keras yang saat ini beredar di pasaran, apalagi untuk keluaran yang baru2. Jadi singkatnya kita ga perlu lagi bersusah payah cari driver untuk bisa mengoperasikan perangkat keras (hardware) baru yang di-plug

Lagi-lagi malam ini rada pening juga kepala ubek2 cari cara supaya modem ZTE MF627 yang ada logo Three (3) bisa diinstall di Windows7. Oya, modem ini ternyata rada murah lho, temenku beli aja harganya sekitar 267.000, coba deh ke toko online yang kabarnya harga2nya rada miring nih : jakartanotebook.com. Bukan promosi lho, cuma share info ajah..

Well, langsung aja. Pas lagi install modem ini di windows7, aplikasi berhasil diinstal tetapi ternyata ada beberapa driver yang ga berhasil diinstall. Pas aplikasi dijalankan juga modem dan sinyal ga kedetek, coba telusuri, ternyata benar ada beberapa driver yang gagal diinstall. Setelah coba googling, ada solusinya di http://myrandommumblings.blogspot.com/2009/06/zte-mf-627-and-windows-7.html.

Ditambah sedikit penyesuaian, kurang lebih langkah solusinya seperti ini :

1.  Colok USB MODEM-nya ke komputer/notebook.
2.  Install secara manual, buka aja Folder “Installer”
3.  Klik kanan di “Setup” (application) > Troubleshoot compatibility > Try recommended setting
4.  Klik tombol “Start the program”
5.  Lalu muncul UAC Windows, klik aja “Yes”
6.  Lalu, pilih “Repair”
7.  Finish

ALhamdulillah.. akhirnya modem itu berhasil didetek semua dan sinyalnya dapet.

Flashdisk saat ini sudah bukan lagi media penyimpanan yang asing, nyaris kemana-mana media penyimpanan yang satu ini pasti dibawa-bawa. Ga punya komputer atau notebook pun, yang penting punya flashdisk dulu. Tapi ga jarang, karena pemakaian “bebas” media yang satu ini jadi sangat rawan, bahkan jadi media penyebaran virus.

Pas lagi browsing, kebetulan ada artikel menarik tentang memproteksi flashdisk, sumber ada dibagian bawah tulisan ini.

1. Membuat partisi Flashdisk jadi 2 bagian atau lebih.

• Memiliki Flashdisk berkapasitas besar (diatas 1 GB) disarankan membuat partisi lebih dari satu. Ini untuk mengantisipasi jika terjadi kerusakan fatal baik disebabkan oleh virus atau penyebab lainnya, kita masih bisa menyelamatkan data disalah satu partisi seandainya jalan terakhir ‘memformat’ flashdisk harus dilakukan. Dalam membuat partisi format dengan NTFS (support windows 2000/2003/XP) bukan FAT32.
• Buat satu bagian yang aman (kita harus memasukkan password untuk dapat mengakses bagian flashdisk yang aman –secure-), dan 1 bagian lagi yang bisa diakses umum. Jika kita menggunakan Windows XP Pro (bukan home edition) dan format winnya NTFS kita dapat membuat password pada sebuah folder dengan langkah-langkah sbb:
  Control panel >> Folder Options >> View >> Lihat checkbox bawah sendiri >> hilangkan tanda centang >> OK. Kemudian, Klik kanan folder yang mau di proteksi >> Properties >> Security >> beri tanda cek semua pada kolom deny. >> OK. Folder yang bersangkutan akan berubah menjadi 0 byte.

2. Menggunakan tool/aplikasi untuk memproteksi USB Flashdisk.

Ada banyak sekali tool yang berfungsi untuk melindungi folder maupun file yang ada dalam storage device seperti:

• File Protektor
• Folder Guard
• Folder Lock
• Mysecretfolder
• Usbdiskguard
• Carryit
• Easy file Pro
• Dll

Dari semua tool tersebut pada dasarnya mempunyai fungsi yang sama yaitu memproteksi folder atau file dengan password sehingga orang lain tidak bisa mengakses folder tersebut atau virus tidak bisa menginfeksi folder atau file yang bersangkutan.

3.  Meng’kompres’ data maupun Meng’enskripsi’ data

Biasanya setiap USB Flashdisk selalu disertai CD driver bawaannya, biasanya pula dalam CD driver tersebut ada tool untuk “Compression Support” maupun “Encription Support”. Namun jika kita tidak mendapatkan tool yang dimaksud kita dapat menggunakan tool lain seperti WinRar untuk melakukan kompresi dan memberikan password pada data yang dikompresi tersebut.

Dari sebuah tulisan tetangga, blom tau juga apakah ini memang bisa mempercepat koneksi ke internet. Tapi yang jelas, melalui settingan yang dirubah berikut ini, lebar bandwith yang diset di Windows XP bisa diubah menjadi lebih besar, default-nya hanya 20 % :

1. Start > Run
2. Ketik :  gpedit.msc
3. Computer configuration > Administrative templates > Network
4. QoS Packet Scheduler > Limit Reservable Bandwidth
5. Enabled > Bandwith Limit :  0 (angka nol)
6. Selesai !
7. Restart Komputer

Lagi nyoba bantu temen, install notebook baru.. beli baru tapi ga ada driver sama sekali. Strange juga, tapi emang begitulah adanya.. penasaran juga akhirnya, setelah searching2 sana sini, ada situs yang kebetulan menjawab semua kebutuhan (sumber: klik di sini ).

To install audio / modem drivers, first download and install Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646):

Download Sound.zip file from ‘Save file to your PC: click here’ at right bottom of the website.
Extract the downloaded zip file to a folder on hard drive.
Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on “Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus” and click Update driver.
3. Select “Install from a list or specific location”
4. Click Next. Then select “Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install”
5. Click Next and then select “Sound, video and game controller” from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse, Choose the location where you have saved the extracted folder.
8. Open the folder and choose the .inf file listed.
9. Ignore any errors you receive and proceed with the installation.

Conexant CX20548 Modem Driver for Microsoft Windows XP (sp36089.exe) (UAA Driver needed)

Download and install Conexant modem driver (sp36089). This will give error message and also will create a folder C:\swsetup\sp36089 which contains extracted driver files.
The same method which is used for installing audio driver needs to be followed for modem.

Installation Instructions :
1. Download the spXXXXX.EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart the notebook when the installation is complete.

Sepertinya driver2 itu bisa juga untuk Presario tipe laennya yang masih C700 series.
